There has been lots of chatter amongst Disneyland fans and annual pass holders about the anticipated price increases for annual passes. Prices were expected to increase this weekend, but by how much, no one really knew.
When you compare the numbers with last years prices, they seem significant, however on the high end it’s only an additional $12.50 a month if you’re on the payment plan.
Is that really enough to deter the diehard fan from renewing? It’s unlikely. As one fan in a Disneyland Annual Passholder Facebook group broke it down to only $3.15 a day for the high end Signature Plus annual pass. They said when you really think about it, Disney is giving you access to the greatest theme park in the world for just around $3 per day. Not that people are likely to go everyday, but their point is that you can, and they believe that even with the higher prices that you’re still getting a lot of value.
Disneyland is working to improve guest experience in anticipation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening in 2019.
So will the new price increase cause enough of a drop off in annual pass holders to see an improvement in crowd size and overall guest experience? Only time will tell.
